June 24, 2021

Statement by Bonner Villabroza CEO & President HFCC, “Today, I just confirmed with Consul Gen Orantes Castro that the Hamilton Outreach program will be for July 10th and Aug. 14th. I guess Hfcc out-raced the consular office in making the announcement. Consul Gen confirmed with me that they will make the formal announcement in their website with all details. All visits to Hamilton Outreach must be pre-arranged with the Toronto Consular Office. My apology to those who called the consular office in Toronto for not getting any answer from them – – that’s is because the front office has not been advised by the proper authority yet. Now… It is confirmed and final.”

POSTPONEMENT Message June 26

Just when we thought we finally pushed thru the restrictions the province’s announcement will put a damper on the two events we have been planning. Out of an abundance of caution and for your health and safety as our first priority, we regrettably have to postpone both the distribution of cheques for the Ayuda Project scheduled for June 30 and the Hamilton Consular Services that is scheduled for July 10 at HFCC Building. Read Bonner Villabroza’s e-mail to Toronto Consul General Mr. Orantes Castro below.

To: Phil. Toronto Consul General Orantes Castro.

Ontario and Hamilton just released their covid-19 health protocol to take effect June 30, 2021. It’s 20 people gathering outdoors and still 5 indoors. Based on these guidelines we have to postpone this Outreach Service scheduled for July the 10th. Should you have a special permit to continue, this program is cancelled for now till further notice.

We, the Hamilton Filipino Community Centre, feel bad for the postpontment of this most awaited important service for our compatriots in this area.

Truly yours,

Bonner Villabroza

Hfcc – President & CEO

HFCC Flag Raising Ceremony

Today HFCC held their Flag Raising Ceremony and it almost did not happen. Due to the restrictions in place because of the Pandemic, PICAH dancers had to be cancelled. There was last minute adjustments which was a stress on the participants but as they say “the show must go on.” So it was that we bravely carried on. Many thanks to all the participants- Bonner V, who made sure the event happened, Dodong C, Rey P on the drums , Rey V and of course Romy on the guitar. The ladies contributed as well with Nunila leading the anthem, Betty, Lucy and Naty D. If we missed anybody please accept our apologies. Gaspar A did the camera work. Hopefully next year would be better as everybody looks forward to a more “normal” year.

Philippine Independence Day

123rd Philippine Independence Day Celebration speech and announcement by CEO & President Bonner Villabroza. Reminder too to stay tuned tomorrow June 12 as HFCC will proceed with a Flag Raising ceremony albeit a little more subdued due to the pandemic restrictions and protocol. A presentation by PICAH dancers will follow after.

AYUDA Initiative

What is it?

It is a pleasure to bring to you our success in procuring financial grant from the Hamilton Community Foundation in the amount of $5000.00.

This initiative was introduced to HFCC by Anabelle Ragsag and for charitable status support, Rose Labid of Jesus Is Alive Community has extended to us their charitable number.

What is this money intended for? This is to distribute as form of “Ayuda” to our senior community members, 65 years and over who have some form of disability and house-bound due to the grip of covid-19 pandemic.

We can help up to 50 people. It will be on a first come, first serve basis.
